While it may be a little awkward being slated against each other, these big hearted ladies don’t let it bother them as they are BOTH guaranteed a spot on the team. One will be the State Reporter and the other will be a State Vice President at Large. Rest assured ladies, the 2 Felicity delegates split their votes between you 😉. Here is some guidance on student work permits from the Ohio Department of Education. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com 34. How can students go about obtaining a work permit under Ohio's Minor Labor Laws if schools are closed? According to the Ohio Department of Commerce, if a minor has all necessary paperwork completed and is unable to get the permit processed due to school closure, the completed paperwork may itself stand in the place of the physically printed permit. Employers should keep the paperwork on file, just like they would the permit. The formal permit should be processed as soon as the school is reopened. As a reminder, hour restrictions outlined in Ohio Revised Code Section 4109
are still in place for any week that was not a pre-planned school holiday (i.e., spring break) and the prohibited/hazardous occupation restrictions are still active.

April 1, 2020 Dear Felicity-Franklin families, As you know, Governor Mike DeWine made an announcement on Monday ordering all of Ohio’s public, community, and private K-12 school buildings to be closed through Friday, May 1st, due to the COVID-19 health crisis. The Governor said he will re-evaluate the situation as we get closer to May 1st and decide whether to re-open school buildings or continue the building closures. We know the Governor’s order to close school through the month of April presents challenges for our families. Please be assured that we, as a district, are working diligently to partner with you in furthering your child’s educational growth and well-being. What does this mean for us? Although our school buildings are to remain closed, remote learning will continue. Will school staff be working? Yes, administrators are actively planning and responding to this national health crisis. Our school district is providing food and remote learning options to children. We are providing a flexible teaching and learning framework that can be implemented successfully in a variety of scenarios. Teachers are creating lesson plans and engaging with their students remotely. During scheduled school days, our teachers will be available via E-mail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to support our parents and students. Teachers and building principals will be sharing their remote learning plans and expectations with parents and students on an ongoing basis. Because we strongly believe in equity of opportunity for all students, those who do not have access to online learning will still have the opportunity to complete all work. Administrators and support staff will also be working remotely and will be available between the hours of 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on weekdays via E-mail. Or, you may also leave a voicemail message, and your call will be returned in a timely manner. The central office will have limited office hours. For those who need to meet with central office administration and/or staff, please call ahead to schedule a time to communicate virtually. If a physical meeting is necessary, please understand that the building capacity of ten (10) persons and social distancing requirements will be enforced. Will students be expected to work? Yes, students are expected to complete all assignments. We cannot allow the COVID-19 health crisis to compromise the education and growth of our students. Parents, we need your help in mitigating the negative effects of COVID-19 on your student’s learning. Students, it’s important that you understand the importance of finishing the year strong. You must be well prepared for the next grade level and/or the next course. By not actively participating and completing assigned work, you will have completed only three-quarters of a school year. You could be creating gaps in knowledge and skills that will be nearly impossible to overcome as you move forward. If you run into technical difficulties with digital assignments or require printed work in lieu of digital work, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s principal. What about food service? Feeding operations are ongoing, despite the stay-at-home orders, and will remain in place throughout the remainder of the school closure. Staff members will continue to comply with the most current health guidelines. Food service will continue with the distribution of “Grab and Go Meal Bags” on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pick-up location is at the back of the school near the playground. The district hands out a week’s worth of meals per child 18 years of age or younger residing in the Felicity-Franklin Local School District. Students/children do not need to be present at pick up. We simply ask that those receiving meals for others provide the student's/child’s name and the name of the person picking up the meal. What about mental health support? Our professionals are reaching out to families to ensure they have open lines of communication during the closure and to make alternative plans, if necessary. Our counselor will be monitoring E-mails and reaching out to our school families in need. If a student or parent is in crisis, you can reach out to the following local hotlines for assistance: Clermont County Crisis Hotline (513) 528-SAVE (7283). What does this mean for graduation? Our high school administration and teachers will be working collaboratively to ensure that students in the Class of 2020 are on track to graduate. If seniors were on track to graduate before classes were interrupted and they continue to do their work, they will graduate. Know that we will work together to provide assistance and flexibility in the interest of doing what is right for students. What about state testing? Per Governor DeWine, there will be no state testing this school year. House Bill (HB) 197 addresses significant changes for education in Ohio due to the COVID-19 crisis. On March 27, the Governor signed the legislation that includes the waiver of state testing requirements for this school year. What about services to students with disabilities? Our school is making a good faith effort to provide appropriate services for our students with disabilities. If a student with a disability cannot access the alternate delivery models being offered to general education students, the district will consult with parents, guardians, and/or caregivers to determine the needs of the student and identify the most appropriate means for meeting those needs during the period of school closure. Please understand that we are experiencing a health crisis that, until now, has been unprecedented. This is new territory for all of us. There will be bumps along the way, but your child’s teachers, counselor, building principal, and our support staff are here to work with and support you and your children. In our continued collaboration, your support, understanding, and patience are greatly appreciated. I am incredibly proud of our staff, students, and school community for continuing their efforts to navigate through this challenging situation. The well-being of our students and their families is our number one priority. Remember, we are in this together. Please continue to be safe and well. Sincerely, David R. Gibson Felicity-Franklin Superintendent

Happy National Census Day! If you haven't already been counted, please take a moment to go to www.census.ohio.gov to be counted. You can also call 844-330-2020. As Treasurer/CFO of Felicity schools, I can't stress enough how important it is to be counted. That is money spent on schools, hospitals, roads, public works and other vital programs. #BECOUNTEDOHIO

Many students come to school each day and not only get education, but also access to many other resources including nutritional meals. I’m happy to say that our community is full of good people who are looking to help and support their neighbors. The United Methodist Church in collaboration with FFLSD will be offering to-go meals for students on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2pm for pick-up only (at the church). Meals will include a to-go breakfast for the following day. The United Methodist Church will continue their Saturday meals for anyone by pick-up only between 11am-1pm as well.
Dear Parents and Guardians Felicity-Franklin school buildings will NOT be open to serve students or the public beginning Monday March 16 and will re-open on Monday April 6. During those weeks, the district will be providing remote learning opportunities for our students. Staff will have weekly or daily activities and lessons posted and available to students no later than close of business on Monday March 16 and Monday March 30. There is no expectation for lessons the week of March 23 due to that being spring break. Teachers are expected to be “electronically on duty” from the hours of 9am to 3pm Monday-Friday for the weeks of March 16 and March 30. Students/Parents are encouraged to email teachers for support with their lessons during those hours. Teachers’ email addresses can be found on the district website. Some teachers have provided paper lessons while others will have online lessons for the students with chrome books. All students in grades 5-12 have been allowed to take their chrome books home. Please encourage your student to log in to their accounts regularly and do the assignments. For our K-4 parents, in addition to the work teachers have provided, we encourage you to check live feed and other forms of district communication for updated activities. Teachers will have third quarter grades posted to Progress Book no later than 3:00 pm on Friday, March 20. Please email your building’s secretary if you have problems logging in to your account. Students are not to be in the building between March 16 and April 6. All programs, events, practices and games are suspended during this time. The district office will be open on a limited basis. Because of this, I encourage you to call ahead to make sure we are available to serve your needs. I will continue to update you as additional information and questions surface. Please contact my office if you have any questions or concerns. Dave Gibson, Superintendent
Dear Felicity-Franklin Families, By now, most of you know of Governor DeWine’s announcement that schools in Ohio will be closed starting Monday, March 16 and reopen April 6. I am sure you have a lot of questions. Our administration is working on a detailed plan for your students and will have those details regarding school work, grade cards etc. for you tomorrow. In the short term, Felicity-Franklin schools will be on a two hour delay tomorrow, Friday, March 13. Staff will report at regular time. Felicity Schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16 and will reopen Monday, April 6. We are using the two hour delay to allow teachers time to begin preparing learning materials for students to use during the three week closer. Assuming your child is not ill, it is very important that your student(s) attends school tomorrow. Students will receive educational materials as well as important updates for you. David R. Gibson, Superintendent Felicity Franklin Local Schools (513)876-2113
