Dear Families,
This morning at approximately ~8:20 a.m., the fire alarm was activated at the High School due to smoke caused by a faulty HVAC fan motor. Both Washington and Franklin Township Fire Departments promptly responded, and all Junior High and High School students and staff safely and efficiently exited the building. Students and staff made their way to the bus barn in order to get out of the elements.
Elementary students remained safely on their buses under the supervision of bus drivers while the fire department investigated. The fire department confirmed there was no evidence of flames, and the building was cleared for reentry.
Thanks to the quick response and collaboration of teaching, maintenance, custodial, support staff, and administration, all students were accounted for and returned to the building by ~8:40 a.m.
We appreciate the continued support of our fire departments and the cooperation of students and staff in ensuring everyone’s safety. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Bob Walker, Superintendent FFLSD
